Has fracking been approved in Ontario? Contact the government to find out

If you would like to know whether or not fracking has begun in Ontario, we encourage you to contact the following ministries, which regulate gas extraction in the province –

The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change can be e-mailed by selecting the “contact us” button on this page, and they can be contacted by phone at 1-800-565-4923 (or 416-325-4000).

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry can be e-mailed by clicking the “contact us” button on this page, and they can be contacted by phone at 1-800-667-1940.

Please contact these ministries to ask them whether a fracking project has been approved in Ontario.  And please encourage others to do the same.

In the past, these ministries have replied to say that approvals for fracking had not yet been granted.  Approvals for fracking could be issued at any time, however, given that  there is no moratorium or ban in Ontario.

Contacting these ministries regularly and sharing any updates you hear will help to make sure that concerned residents hear about any approval immediately.

Anyone with information about fracking projects in the province is encouraged to e-mail Stop Fracking Ontario, or post a comment on the Facebook page. We need help to find current information.  We can only re-post the updates that we are aware of.
